Surya Hotels group buys Dragonfly portfolio
The hotels in the Dragonfly portfolio, which were put up for sale in July 2015, operate in four locations across East Anglia and have an estimated joint value of £9.8m.
Hotels included in the deal are a 50-room Colchester hotel (£1.95m), a 50-room King’s Lynn hotel (£1.85m), a 71-room Bury St Edmunds hotel (£3m), and a 70-room Peterborough hotel (£3m).
The hotels will remain under the Dragonfly brand but will receive ‘significant investment’ to bring them in line with Surya Hotel standards. There will be no staff changes at the properties.
Suki Dulai, managing director of Surya Hotels Ltd, said: "The Dragonfly portfolio is a great fit for our brand - which is all about delivering quality facilities at fantastic prices in the heart of stunning villages, towns and thriving local communities.
"We are delighted to have successfully acquired four wonderfully situated venues in East Anglia to add to our already impressive line-up in the area. All four hotels will undergo extensive refurbishment to bring them up to the standards of others within our group."
The purchases signal the second acquisition the chain made in 2015 following the purchase of the George Hotel, Colchester.
The properties offer facilities including tea and coffee making facilities, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and restaurants for breakfast and dinner.
