The British Hospitality Association’s (BHA) event, which will be held on 26 January at the Apex Hotel in Dundee, will see companies make over 100 pledges for new jobs and over 200 apprenticeships and work placements available for young people between 16-24 years-old.
It follows on from the success of last year’s Big Hospitality event in Glasgow where 97 new jobs, 65 apprenticeships and 180 work experience placements were created.
The initiative was started in 2012 with the goal of creating 60,000 hospitality jobs for young people in the UK by the end of 2016, with around 10,000 of those in Scotland where hospitality staff make up nine per cent of the Scottish workforce.
Willie Macleod, executive director BHA Scotland said that he is looking forward to holding the event in Dundee and highlighted its aims.
“Our aim is to build on the success of the previous two events held in Glasgow last year and Edinburgh the year before and bring together over 50 businesses and around 250 young people under one roof, to highlight the wide range of training, qualifications and long-term career opportunities across all areas of the industry,” he said.
“Collectively we are committed to pledging 100 new jobs and 200 apprenticeships and work placements on the day which is why we are urging young people, locally and further afield, to come along and find out more about working in this vibrant industry, which is growing every year.”
