Technology-focused hotel company YOTEL has unveiled 'significant international growth plans' that will see it have 12 hotels open by 2018.

The London-based company, which currently has four sites open - at airports London Gatwick, London Heathrow, Amsterdam Schipol and in New York - today announced plans to open airport hotels at Paris Charles de Gaulle and Singapore Changi. It is also expected to announce new hotels for London and Geneva.

Sites are already under development in San Francisco, Boston, Miami, Williamsburg Brooklyn, Singapore and Dubai where YOTEL will maintain its asset-light strategy and work with long-term third party investors.

YOTEL, the creation of YO! Sushi founder Simon Woodroffe, offers guests the chance to stay in 'cabins' inspired by first class plane travel which include the space-saving SmartBeds and monsoon showers.

The technology-led brand also replaces reception desks with self-service airline style kiosks and an hourly booking system.

YOTEL CEO Hubert Viriot said: “We have big intentions for our brand over the next 12-18 months, looking to grow the number of rooms under management by over 250 per cent by 2018 and I am confident that by working closely with our experienced partners and investors, we will enter new markets and continue to cater to the modern, tech-savvy global traveller of today.”

“As with all our existing hotels, we will maintain our focus on innovative design and technology, striving to provide a superior, seamless and intuitive experience for our guests and to ensure each of our hotels has a sense of individuality that complements the local area in which they are built.”
