Beany Green opening at Nova Victoria

Australian-inspired coffee and restaurant group Beany Green is set to open at the new Nova development in Victoria after hitting its £300k crowdfunding target in under 24 hours, BigHospitality’s sister site M&C Allegra Foodservice has reported.

The group has secured £322,000 from 54 investors for its Bondi Bond which it will use to open two sites in 2016.

Co-founder Prue Freeman told M&C that Beany would now go into over-funding in order to speed up its acquisition of larger sites.

“We have set a maximum of £800k, which will allow us to do a few sites next year,” said Freeman.

“We have plans to continue the expansion but the model is individual with a lot of effort going in to each one so we want to do two and be comfortable with each.”

Beany will join eighteen new restaurants - including openings from Jason Atheron, Bone Daddies and D&D London - at Nova when it opens next year.

The group currently operates five central London locations in Broadgate Circle, Little Venice (Paddington), Marylebone, Regent’s Place and the Southbank.

It will open on the Buckingham Palace side of the Nova development, which is due to be completed in September.

The new 2,200 sq.ft restaurant will be its first to offer full table service, though Freeman said a grab-and-go option would still be available for time-pressed customers.

The Victoria opening will be something of a homecoming for Beany, as it was the first site the group had a pitch for its van when Freeman and co-founder Tom Onions first began on the street food circuit.
