Andrew Brownsword Hotels CEO to take up MD job at Jurys Inn

Andrew Brownsword Hotels' group CEO Jason Carruthers has quit his job to take on the position of managing director at Jurys Inn.

Carruthers, who starts his new role in January 2016, will be responsible for steering the 28-strong hotel group forward as it looks to add more hotels to its estate.

As managing director he will report into Jurys Inn former CEO John Brennan, who became CEO of Amaris Hospitality when the company was formed in July.

Brennan said: "We’re delighted to welcome a hospitality executive of Jason’s calibre to Jurys Inn and he joins the company at a very exciting point in time. We’re currently adding eight new hotels to the already well invested Jurys Inn estate as part of our strategy to maximise opportunities for the Amaris Hospitality portfolio.

As managing director of Jurys Inn, Jason will play a key role in building on Jurys Inn’s successes to date, enhancing its already strong market positioning and helping drive superior trading performance. We very much look forward to having Jason as part of the leadership team.”

Carruthers, who worked for four years at Accor - as director of operations at Novotel UK and VP operations at Mercure Hotels - before joining Andrew Brownsword Hotels in June last year said he was looking forward to the challenge of building up the mid-market hotels company's presence in the UK.

He said: “I’m very excited about joining Jurys Inn and Amaris Hospitality and to take on the challenge and opportunity to contribute to the ambitious plans for the Group. Jurys Inn is a fantastic hotel brand known for great hotels and locations, excellent customer service and, above all, great people. I really look forward to working with the team to further grow and develop the brand and business as we embark on the next chapter in Jurys Inn’s development."

Jurys Inn became part of the 89-strong Amaris Hospitality group in July after its owner, investment company Lone Star, decided to create the new group.

As part of a £100m investment programme, Amaris Hospitality plans to rebrand eight hotels this month as Jurys Inns, taking the total number to 36. The company also owns hotels under the Mercure, Hotel Collection and Thistle brands and has ambitions to be the 'most significant' hotel owner in the UK.
