WSH sets up dedicated restaurant arm

Westbury Street Holdings (WSH), the owner of Searcys, BaxterStorey and Beungo, has set up a dedicated restaurants division to support high-profile chefs in launching new ventures.

According to BigHospitality's sister publication M&C Allegra Foodservice the company has appointed Matt Thomas, who for the last six and a half years has headed up BaxterStorey London, as managing director of the new venture.

It is thought that WSH Restaurants already backs John Campbell, who recently won a Michelin star for his new pub restaurant The Woodspeen in Newbury and is set to support MasterChef: The Professionals judge Monica Galetti in securing her first solo venture.

The company currently works with a number of high-profile chefs on a consultancy basis. It is thought that the company may also look to launch its own restaurant format longer term.

As managing director for BaxterStorey London, Thomas was responsible for the London region as well as BA’s UK lounges proposition, supported by five operations directors.

The group’s London region is made up of approximately 180 high-profile locations/clients and this year the region will generate a turnover of £115m.

Previous to that he was regional and HR director at contract caterer Holroyd & Howe, where he was responsible for the operational management of 140 locations.
