New World Trading Company heads south

New World Trading Company (NWTC) is continuing its expansion outside of the North of England with plans for a new Botanist site in Surrey.

The 80-cover, 3,500 sq.ft bar and restaurant is set to open in the Grade II listed Town Hall Buildings in Farnham early next year, creating 50 new jobs.

It will be the seventh Botanist site, joining Alderley Edge, Chester, Newscastle, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds. NWTC company also opened its first London Trading House site in May this year.

Featuring a ‘stripped back’ menu, the Botanist Farnham will serve ‘botanical’ cocktails, craft beers and ales, and deli and rotisserie inspired food.

NWTC managing director Chris Hill said: “We are incredibly excited to bring The Botanist’s legendary brand and experience to Farnham. The character of the Town Hall buildings is a perfect match for The Botanist concept. We’ve had great success further north and are now looking forward to making our mark in Farnham.”

The restaurant will host live music with daily gigs and Sunday afternoon sessions designed to create a ‘home-from-home’ atmosphere.

NWTC was launched by Living Ventures in 2012 and is currently run separately from the business.

Speaking to BigHospitality in August, Hill said that ‘nowhere was off-limits’ to the group in terms of expansion, with sites opening in Glasgow this autumn and in Marlow in November.

The company is also currently developing a 600-cover Hampton’s Beach House called The Clubhouse, which will open at the top of Liverpool ONE early next year.
