Le Chabanais re-opens as 8 Mount Street

Le Chabanais, the restaurant opened in partnership with the team from French restaurant Le Chateaubriand has re-opened as 8 Mount Street.

The closure of the Mayfair restaurant, which opened to much interest in April, was highlighted by Bloomberg last month who revealed Le Chateaubriand chef Inaki Aizpitarte and partners Franck Audoux and Laurent Cabut had split with the restaurant's owner Valrun Talreja.

Today (1 September), the restaurant confirmed that the partnership had ended and revealed that the restaurant was re-opening as 8 Mount Street with Adrian Mellor as head chef and Scott McCaig as restaurant manager. The business is now being overseen by a group of investors.

"8 Mount Street signifies a new start for the restaurant which will see head chef Adrian Mellor present a more informal Mediterranean led menu alongside a more extensive wine list, including a wider choice of white Burgundy, natural wines and grower Champagnes," it said in a statement.

"The team at 8 Mount Street are excited to be bringing a new offering to the area and look forward to welcoming diners from both the local neighbourhood and from further afield."

Le Chabanais was devised by Talreja and Aizpitarte after Talreja dined at Le Chateaubriand in Paris. The restaurant was designed to bring a taste of Chateaubriand, a regular on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list, to London and to give Chateaubriand's head chef Paul Boudier the chance to work in the city.

It is not known what led to the partnership split.
