Kurobuta announces Harvey Nichols residency

Ex-Nobu chef Scott Hallsworth has announced that his Japanese restaurant concept Kurobuta will take up residency at Harvey Nichols’ Knightsbridge store later this year.

Taking over the former Fifth Floor Restaurant space, Hallsworth will use the site to debut several new dishes alongside Kurobuta’s signature Japanese tapas-style menu.

BBQ Pork Belly in steamed buns, Tea-Smoked Lamb and the chef's critically acclaimed ‘Junk Food Japan’ dishes will feature on the menu.

Hallsworth said: “I'm a huge fan of Harvey Nichols and am blown away to be invited to set up Kurobuta on the famous Fifth Floor; this is the perfect place to unleash a bunch of new dishes that I have been working on. This is a very cool brand to be partnering with and we have some very cool new ideas for this Kurobuta.”

The chef, who runs two Kurobuta sites in Marylebone and Chelsea, told BigHospitality earlier this year that he was planning further expansion of the brand and was considering opening in Canary Wharf.

It was announced in April that Hallsworth had pulled out of a partnership to launch late night venue Ramusake with Whisky Mist owner Piers Adam to 'focus on other interests'.

The chef also opened Pan Asian restaurant Joe's Oriental Diner in Chelsea earlier this year, and oversees Kurocham, a six month pop-up at the Mandarin Oriental in Bodrum, Turkey.
