Tequila hotel and restaurant opening on the Isle of Wight

Europe’s first Tequila hotel, El Patron Isle of Wight, will open on the Isle of Wight in August.

Situated in Charter House, a grade two listed building in St Thomas’s Square in Newport, El Patron Isle of Wight will serve a new cocktail menu with drinks such as Maraca, Luchador and Estimulante, a combination of Patron XO Café, Dark Cacao and Espresso.

On the food menu will be Mexican street food including Spinach and Feta Quesadillas, Slow Cooked Pork Burritos and Fish Tacos, all of which will be served on sharing plates.

Andrew Taylor, co-founder of El Patron, told BigHospitality that they chose to open on the Isle of Wight to offer something different.

"The reason for bringing El Patron Londres to the Isle of Wight, was to offer the people a venue that had not been seen on the island before, specialising in Tequila and Mexican street food. This beautiful grade two listed building has allowed us to take our concept further and enter the hotel market creating the worlds first Tequila hotel," he said.

The restaurant will be decorated with Latino-inspired artwork, Mediterranean style shutters, a corrugated iron bar, and reclaimed metal from former warships.

The upstairs boutique hotel, which is due to open towards the end of August, will have six rooms, each designed based on a cocktail on the menu, and they will each have an individual cocktail-set.

Evening entertainment will include live music and DJ’s from Wednesday to Saturday who will play Latino-inspired music, with live music during the day every Sunday.

This is the second venture for the group who also own El Patron London; they plan to expand to a third site in Central London later this year.
