CleanConscience aims to reduce waste from the hospitality industry by manually sorting, sterilising and re-bottling soaps and toiletries.
Products are then distributed to at-risk people in the UK, and those suffering from life threatening diseases around the world that are preventable by washing with soap.
Five-star Brown’s Hotel in London, part of the Rocco Forte group, has become the first UK hotel to work with the charity.
“The turnkey solution works well, and we have eight green recycling crates full of discarded product collected monthly," said Steve McCormack, security and sustainability manager at Brown’s Hotel.
“Brown’s Hotel is very proud to be the front runners in this sustainability project."
CleanConscience founder Gwen Powell explained that the charity was more than just a waste recovery service.
She said: “It seems fitting that one of the first hotels in London is now the first hotel in the UK to take part in our soap and toiletry recycling programme.
