Bernardi brothers release details of new Marylebone Italian restaurant

The Australian-born Bernardi brothers have released further details of their modern Italian restaurant opening in Marylebone in September.

Gabriel and Marcello Bernardi will launch the 120-cover Bernardi’s, an all-day restaurant and bar spread across two floors of a restored Victorian property in Portman Village.

Zoe Charlton-Brown, former general manager at Angela Hartnett’s Café Murano St James, has been appointed director of operations.

Two-time Roux Scholarship finalist Sabrina Gidda will head up the kitchen, serving dishes such as Tarragon Gnocchi, Rabbit Ragu, Broad Beans and Pancetta; and Duck, Cime De Rapa, Pistachios.

A large communal table will overlook an open kitchen and bar, where guests will be able watch pizzettes and breads being made to order.

Both Bernardi’s have prior experience of London’s hospitality industry having worked with the Cubitt House Group.

“Growing up in Australia, food was always really important to us – even more so because of our Italian heritage,” the brother’s said.

“We both enjoy light, fresh, uncomplicated food and wanted to create somewhere that we could eat in day-in-day-out, a restaurant that capitalises on flavour but isn’t too heavy, fussy or ‘once in a while’.

"It’s our hope that both the local Marylebone residents and others who share our passion for good Italian food, will enjoy it as much as us!”

Bernardi’s opens at 62 Seymour Street on 8 September.
