Young's begins Burger Shack expansion

Young’s pub company is rolling-out its Burger Shack concept to a further three sites in July.

The fast-casual offering will open at The Ship in Wandsworth, The Wood House in Dulwich and The Leather Bottle in Earlsfield following its successful launch in May.

Both The Ship and The Wood House will feature the addition of private heated booths, while The Leather Bottle’s site will include two ‘Shepherds Huts’ with screens and music.

Burger Shack - which serves beef, pulled pork and vegetarian burgers alongside a selection of drinks - will see its portfolio expand to five.

In a statement released to the press Young’s said the concept was created in response to consumer demand for more quality fast-casual dining options tailored to an ‘urban, modern demographic’.

Speaking to BigHospitality’s sister publication M&C Report in May, Young’s retail director Patrick Dardis said the company was planning to roll-out more than 20 Burger Shack’s across its pub estate.

“I think looking at the next two to three years having 20 plus of these permanent structures around our pubs is very doable in the right location and the right space,” said Dardis.

“It’s a brand I’m developing without doubt; I have confidence in the performance and branding – it will be rolled out.”
