The redesigned 105-cover restaurant will feature a stand-alone bar area, a private dining space and bigger booths for larger parties. Some of the traditional communal bench seating will remain.
The menu will also be redesigned and will include a small plates menu after a successful trial at Tampopo’s pop-up restaurant Tam Pop Up. All of the restaurant’s current dishes will remain on the menu including Nasi Goreng, Kway Teow (Malaysian Ho Fun Noodles) and Thai Taramind Duck.
The new design will see the restaurant have a ‘bigger emphasis’ on the natural world with bamboo, greenery and exotic flowers, but it will be mixed with the commercialism of Asia’s lightbox logo graphics.
David Fox, co-founder of Tampopo, says that the new design will recreate South East Asia’s dining experience.
“We wanted to capture the current, cool, but fun, café style dining that is prevalent in many areas from where we draw our inspiration. This has Western and Colonial influences, but is a style very much ‘owned’ by the South-East Asian culture,” he said.
“Our food will be, as ever, the best cuisine of its kind in Manchester, and our new facilities, such as private dining, mean there’ll be even more scope for Tampopo good times – bring on the next 18 years!”
