M Restaurants secures second site and launches sushi bar

M Restaurants has secured its second site in the Zig Zag building in London’s Victoria. 

Martin Williams, founder of M Restaurants opened his first venue in the heart of the City Of London in Threadneedle Street last December.  Brand ‘M’ boasts a destination cocktail bar, wine tasting space, two 90-cover restaurants M-GRILL and M-RAW, private dining and events spaces. 

M Restaurants said the first venue has performed significantly ahead of budget for its first six months and the second site, which it has not officially disclosed the location of, has been secured six months ahead of plan. 

According to M&C Allegra Foodservice, the sister title for Big Hospitality, the site has been secured at the Zig Zag building in London’s Victoria.  

Williams, who was the former MD of Gaucho, said: “I have been working on something very special in Central London for the past year that will compliment Threadneedle Street as a sister venue.” 

Executive chef Michael Reid, who finished a two year stint with ‘Rock Star Chef’ Shannon Bennett in Melbourne has headed up M Restaurants with head chef Jarrod McCarroll, formerly Chiltern Firehouse and Francesco Cappucci, who was previously at Cicconis and Massimo’s. 

RAW protein menu

In July, M Restaurants', RAW venue in Threadneedle Street, will unveil its new sushi bar and launch a new menu focusing on high protein. Diners will be offered quinoa sushi, something that is not readily available in the UK, with fillings including swordfish and tuna.

Further dishes on the menu include homemade South-African style biltong, kangaroo and boa buns. Caviar will also appear on a selection of the sushi dishes and as a Volzhenka Beluga Platter, which features lobster, a vodka crème fraiche and champagne jelly.

M RAW will also be catering for meat lovers with finest Blackmore wagyu sirloin steak on offer.
