Pop-up restaurant Oink to open in Shoreditch
Porky pop-up Oink is launching a weekend residence on Shoreditch’s Commercial Street from 3 July.

Developed by former art director James Purdie, the ‘Swine Dining’ venue is designed to offer a communal dining experience exploring all facets of the pig.

Example dishes include Pig’s Cheek and Black Pudding Nuggets; Pulled Pork Shoulder; and Sweet and Sour Glazed Chilli Ribs, with all meat reared just 50 miles from the Oink kitchen.

Customers will also have the option of selecting dishes from a three course set menu at £25 per head, beginning with a Bacon Salt Infused Bloody Mary.

Purdie developed the concept for Oink after he found himself missing the taste of pork during a prolonged sting living and working in Dubai.

He said: “Being an Art Director in the world of advertising has given me a real appreciation for simple and honest brand communication; however my true passion has always been food. My evenings were filled learning different techniques, searching for the finest ingredients and trialling new flavour combinations.

“Oink has been a dream for some years now, so to finally see the doors open will be a very special moment. London is full of like-minded Swine Diners, hungry for a dining experience with a difference. We believe the menu and atmosphere we’ve created will provide just that.”

A representative told BigHospitality that Oink was set to continue popping-up for some time.

He said: “They have an open ended contract with the venue at the moment so hopefully they’ll be staying put for the foreseeable future. The aim is definitely to move into a permanent site once they’ve built a following of Swine Diners!"

Oink will open at Crisis Café, 66 Commercial Street, London, on Fridays and Saturdays from 7.30pm to close.
