British modular hotel manufacturer Snoozebox has won a global design award for the latest incarnation of its portable rooms.

The concept was named the Overall Winner for Architectural Design and also received the Good Design Award Trophy at the Good Design Awards 2015 in Sydney on Friday (29 May).

The portable rooms, with interiors designed by tangerine, provide luxury on-site accommodation at major events and festivals across the UK and Europe.

Each Snoozebox room features an en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, flat-screen TV, free WiFi and a personal safe. The pods are just 7.5 square metres in size and can be stacked in order to save space.

“Snoozebox is about bringing an innovative new concept to the hotel and events market. Putting our guests right at the heart of the action delivers the ultimate event experience,” said Lorcán Ó Murchú, CEO of Snoozebox.

The rooms will launch this summer at events including Glastonbury Festival, the Silverstone Formula One Grand Prix and at Richmond during the Rugby World Cup.

Matt Round, tangerine’s creative director, said: “We have worked closely with Snoozebox to create a sophisticated and extraordinarily flexible room, which now positions Snoozebox with the opportunity to lead in their market with this new product.”

The modular hotel design has been adopted by other brands including Premier Inn and Hampton by Hilton.
