DJ Tim Healey to open Brighton restaurant Kooks
Kooks - described as a ‘boho bistro’ - will open for business on Friday (15 May) on Brighton's Gardner Street where it will serve a modern English menu accompanied by a 'bespoke soundtrack of choice tunes' chosen by Tim.
The restaurant - whose name is inspired by Brighton's 'eccentric creatives' - will open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 10am until 10pm, and 10am until 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays serving seasonal dishes 'made from scratch'.
Music will be an important part of the offering with Tim creating play-lists for specific times of the day from his extensive music archive and old LP covers transferred into menu boards.
Rebecca, a restaurant manager in London and Brighton, said the aim was for the restaurant to be a 'home-from-home'.
“It will be a place where everyone is welcome to come and enjoy our vibe, consistent service and great food at prices that won’t break the bank," she said.
Explaining the music focus she said: "It will be as eclectic as possible – drawing from Tim’s gargantuan music collection. Now he has finally archived it all, it can be streamed from a number of devices in the restaurant."
Tim added: “Rebecca and I are both massively passionate about food and hospitality and my music career has given me the opportunity to experience food and service at all levels of dining from Tokyo to San Francisco. So between us, we know what we want to offer diners at Kooks.”
