Farm Girl is the creation of entrepreneurs Rose Mann and Anthony Hood who are aiming to serve up 'nutritious, yet substantial' food from their Portobello Road site.
The 45-cover restaurant's menu has been created by Benoit Marmoiton, who worked with Joel Antunes at Brasserie Joel and Embassy Mayfair Brasserie, with help from naturopathic doctor Melly Lou, founder of Liquorice Lifestyle, who has advised on the nutritional aspects of the menu.
Dishes will include Farm Girl Porridge - jumbo oats, chia seeds, Himalayan salt, coconut oil, served with a choice of yoghurt, berries or avocado - and Roast Beetroot Salad - feta, purple sprouting broccoli, feta, coriander, hemp seeds and pumpkin seeds as well as a 'vegan' BLT made from coconut bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato and cashew chilli guacamole.
The café's interiors have been designed by Beata Heuman who has chosen turquoise tiles for the walls and bespoke farm-style graffiti by Pang London. Diners can choose to sit in the ground floor dining room or communal style at a large farmhouse-style table on the mezzanine floor.
Farm Girl, which will open 8am to 6pm Tuesday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sundays is the first project from Mann, who grew up on a farm outside Melbourne and Hood.
The pair believe the concept has roll out potential, although said they were in 'no hurry' to open more.
