Hilton Worldwide to open Hilton Garden Inn at Emirates Old Trafford

Hilton Worldwide has signed a deal with Lancashire County Cricket Club to open a Hilton Garden Inn at Emirates Old Trafford.

Construction of the 150-bedroom hotel is expected to start on the site of the Manchester-based cricket club later this year before opening early 2017.

The property will be run through a franchise agreement with Lancashire County Cricket Club, which plays host to a wide number of sporting, business and entertainment events and is home to the 68-bedroom hotel Old Trafford Lodge.

Lancashire County Cricket Club chairman Michael Cairns said: “The Old Trafford Lodge is now 16 years old and has been a great asset to Lancashire County Cricket Club. However, due to the growth in our conference and events business at Emirates Old Trafford the time has now come to capitalise on the value and suitability of our location and to construct a high quality branded 150-room hotel which will complement our stunning venue."

Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, Europe & Africa, Hilton Worldwide, said:"The hotel will play an important role in enhancing the growing mixed-use offer at Emirates Old Trafford, which has established itself as a thriving business and leisure hub.”

Hilton Garden Inn Emirates Old Trafford will join a number of Hilton Worldwide hotels at sporting venues across the UK, including Hilton Wembley, Hilton St George's Park, Doubletree by Hilton Milton Keynes and Hilton at the Ageas Bowl, which will open in Hampshire later this year.

'Upscale, yet affordable brand Hilton Garden Inn is present in more than 600 locations globally. The Emirates Old Trafford hotel will include a 24-hour fitness centre, 24-hour business centre, a restaurant, bar and The Pavillion Pantry snack bar.
