This is just one of a wave of restaurant openings internationally for the chef during 2015 with the Marina Social at the Intercontinental Hotel, Dubai; Japanese restaurant Sosharu, in London’s Clerkenwell; the Kensington Street Social, Sydney and the Edition Hotel, New York all in the pipeline.
Social Wine & Tapas will open with 70-covers, a two-floor bar and restaurant, offering rare and fine wines accessibly priced alongside a tapas and snacks menu.
The ground floor will house a wine shop and tapas bar, which will have an open kitchen with a dining counter; banquet seating for up to nine covers, and an elevated wine tasting table for 10. There will also be a basement wine bar, with additional seating, a second tasting area, a corner bar and a preparation kitchen counter.
Laure Patry, who has worked with Jason Atherton for over 10 years, will head up the venue. Together Jason Atherton and head chef Frankie Van Loo are developing a menu of modern tapas style dishes made with the best of British produce as well as a seasonally changing selection of cheeses and charcuterie. All front-of-house staff will also be sommeliers.
Atherton currently has 13 restaurants internationally and has rapidly added to his London and international portfolios since opening Pollen Street Social in London in 2011.
