The new standards are for hospitality team member, hospitality supervisor, hospitality manager, commis chef and chef de partie. They have been developed by the Hospitality Trailbrazer scheme, managed by People 1st and led by Hilton Worldwide.
According to BigHospitality's sister publication M&C Report the new standards were approved at the end of National Apprenticeship Week.
Skills minister Nick Boles said: “Apprenticeships are a real success story. Through giving leading employers the power to design and deliver high quality apprenticeships we can give young people the skills our economy vitally needs.”
Annette Allmark, director of strategic policy at People 1st, said: “Hospitality is an exciting industry to grow a career in but sadly some still have the perception that it is low skilled. The Trailblazer employers have clearly defined through the new standards, which can help apprentices develop right through to management and high level skilled positions; in fact that is not the case at all. We encourage businesses that have not been involved in apprenticeship so far to find out more and get involved in the on-going work of the Trailblazer.”
