Entries open for MasterChef: The Professionals 2015

Chefs from across the UK have been invited to apply for the eighth series of MasterChef: The Professionals.

The BBC's competition for professional chefs will return to television screens later this year, and production company Shine TV is accepting online applications until the end of April.

“Across the seven week run the professional chefs will once again be tested, challenged and pushed to the edge of their gastronomic limits, in the hunt for the next culinary superstar,” said a Shine TV spokesperson.

“Two Michelin-starred British chef Marcus Wareing joins formidable perfectionist, chef Monica Galetti, and MasterChef’s seasoned diner Gregg Wallace as judges of the country’s most high end cooking competition. Together they will search for the chef who has the skills, commitment, palate and style to push them to the top of their demanding industry.”

To qualify for the show, applicants must be aged 20 or over on 1 May 2015, have the right to live and work in the UK, and have worked for at least two years as a chef in a professional kitchen and/or be qualified to NVQ level 3 or equivalent. They must also be able to commit to all of the filming days required.

Last year, Scottish sous chef Jamie Scott was crowned winner of MasterChef: The Professionals after beating off tough competition from fellow finalists Brian McLeish and Sven-Hanson Britt.

In an exclusive interview, Scott told BigHospitality it felt “absolutely amazing” to win the show and gain the approval of judges Marcus Wareing and Monica Galletti.

“It is hard to explain how it feels to win. It has really got my confidence up and made me believe in myself, and the whole experience has opened by eyes to new ways of cooking,” he said.

Wareing joined the MasterChef: The Professionals judging line-up in 2014 after stepping in to replace Michel Roux Jr, who quit the show following a dispute with the BBC.
