The Red Carnation Hotel Collection has become the first UK company to add its hotel inventory to TripAdvisor's instant booking platform, allowing travellers to book rooms at its properties as well as view and review them.

The service will initially only be available to travellers in the US, but is due to be rolled out to the UK later this year and is expected to make the booking process easier for potential guests while increasing booking rates for hotels.

Red Carnation Hotels managing director Jonathan Raggett said the company had decided to sign up to the service as it had a valued relationship with TripAdvisor and its 17 hotels were consistently rated highly on the site.

"It's a transparent benchmark showing that we continue to meet and exceed our guests' expectations time and time again," he said.

“We’re excited to be the first UK hotel collection to join the new TripAdvisor instant booking platform. Guest service is at the absolute heart of everything we do, and this integration importantly makes the booking process simple and seamless for guests using TripAdvisor."

More bookings

TripAdvisor, which launched its instant booking platform in June last year to 'remove friction' from the booking process, said it had benefits both for travellers, who could use a more efficient booking process and hotels as there was the potential for more bookings and improved downstream conversion.

“We’re excited to partner with Red Carnation on our new instant booking platform,” said Robin Ingle, senior vice president, global sales, TripAdvisor. “Our partnership with the hotel collection helps us increase instant booking inventory and offer competitive pricing to our community of millions of travellers.”

Hotels which add their inventory to TripAdvisor's instant booking platform pay a booking fee to TripAdvisor for each room reserved. Throughout the booking process, TripAdvisor reminds travellers that they are booking with its instant booking partners and gives them links and numbers for them to call for customer support enquiries.
