Hampton by Hilton to open hotel at Humberside Airport
The hotel company has signed a deal with regional developer Nightel to operate the 103-bedroom hotel under franchise.
Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, Europe & Africa, Hilton Worldwide said the hotel, which will include a restaurant and 24-hour fitness centre, would cater for leisure guests and corporate guests needing access to the wind farms and oil and gas industries in the North Sea.
"Humberside Airport is a vibrant passenger and cargo hub, and home to the second largest heliport in the UK," he said. "Hilton Humberside Airport will appeal to passengers travelling through the airport, and alleviate the growing need for quality, economy hotel accommodation in the wider Humber region.”
Brand of choice
Paul Green of Nightel, which will develop the hotel in conjunction with North Lincolnshire Council, said the service-focused brand Hampton by Hilton had been the brand of choice as it 'promised a quality of accommodation that is scarce in the Humber region'.
“Signing the agreement is a real coup for us and speaks volumes about the standard of development we are bringing forward,” he said.
Liz Redfern, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said the hotel would be part of major investment being made to improve the area.
"We are extremely excited for this £7m hotel to be built; it is going to give the area a real boost," she said. "It will not only regenerate North Lincolnshire by creating new jobs but it will also enable people to stay longer in our area and discover what fantastic things it has to offer."
Hampton by Hilton Humberside Airport is scheduled to open in mid-2016 and will continue the expansion of Hilton Worldwide's focused service brand in the UK. Hilton currently operates 14 Hampton hotels in the UK with another 13 in the pipeline.
