InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed a deal with Dominvs Hospitality to run its two hotels at Aberdeen Airport.

Under franchise agreements IHG will open a 193-bedroom Holiday Inn Express at the end of this year close to the airport's terminal building.

A 165-bedroom Crowne Plaza with restaurant, bar, meeting rooms, an outdoor terrace and gym will open in 2016 alongside the Holiday Inn Express.

The hotels will join four other IHG properties already in operation in the Scottish city - Holiday Inn Express Aberdeen City Centre, Holiday Inn Express Aberdeen Exhibition Centre, Holiday Inn Aberdeen Exhibition Centre and Holiday Inn Aberdeen West.

Anna Corkill, director of development for the UK and Ireland at IHG, said: “We’re delighted to be bringing the Crowne Plaza brand to Aberdeen and to be expanding our Holiday Inn Express brand here. Aberdeen is a large hub for the energy industry in Europe and these two hotels are well placed to meet the needs of international and domestic business travellers who frequent the city.”

Preet Ahluwalia, owner of Dominvs Group, which started building the hotels last year after securing the sites in 2013, said: “We couldn’t have asked for a better location at the airport. These two hotels complement each other perfectly and we look forward to opening their doors and welcoming guests travelling to Aberdeen.”

IHG franchises, leases, manages or owns over 4,700 hotels and 697,000 guest rooms in nearly 100 countries, with almost 1,200 hotels in its development pipeline.
