McAleer & Rushe will construct the 14,566.4sq.m aparthotel as part of a hotel-led mixed-use development at 111 Westminster Bridge Road.
The development will include the 218-room aparthotel, six office suites, a restaurant and adjoining retail sites. It will be located conveniently close to Waterloo, the City of Westminster, and the South Bank.
Managing director of Marlin Apartments Susan Cully said: “The development on Westminster Bridge Road is a very exciting proposition for Marlin Apartments as it allows us to diversify our offering to both the corporate and leisure travel markets.
“By adopting the aparthotel business model for the first time, we can offer guests a more compact offering but with the same high level of design, facilities, style, customer service and value that we already offer across Marlin Apartments’ six other sites.”
The Waterloo aparthotel will be Marlin Apartments seventh property in central London, joining Marlin Empire Square (near London Bridge), Marlin Queen Street , Marlin Aldgate, Marlin Limehouse, Marlin Canary Wharf and Marlin Stratford.
The development
The development which will house the new aparthotel be seven storeys tall at the front of the building, and ten storeys tall at the rear. It will adjoin the Grade II listed Necropolis building on the same street.
Marlin has appointed McAleer & Rushe on a design-and-build contract for the project, which will involve demolishing the 1950s office block which is currently known as Costain House.
Construction managing director at McAleer & Rushe Martin Magee said: “This is a very handsome, well located scheme which we are very proud to deliver.
“We are very much looking forward to working in further partnerships with Marlin Apartments on future projects in both London and Dublin.”
