The first site acquired by Supercity is located in Watford and is planned to open as extended stay serviced apartments in the autumn of 2015.
Supercity Watford is intended to offer a ‘cost-effective alternative’ for those who want long-term stays while visiting the city on business. It will have 19 studio apartments and 22 one-bedroom suites.
The other site acquired by Supercity is located on Chancery Lane in the building that once housed the Jewish Chronicle offices. The group has applied for planning permission to transform the building into a luxury aparthotel that will open in 2016.
Supercity Chancery Lane will contain 50 luxury suites on the upper floor of the building. The lower floors will house a gym, serviced offices and the existing pub on the ground floor. Supercity believes this site will be well placed to serve those working in the City.
Managing director of Supercity Aparthotels Alexis Burton said: “These new acquisitions are testament to the success and hard work of the Supercity Aparthotels team.
“With growing understanding and demand for aparthotels amongst business travellers and tourists alike, we’re delighted to be growing and complementing our existing portfolio in and around London. We can’t wait for the doors of our fourth and fifth sites to open.”
Epic
The new aparthotel by Epic will be located on Duke Street in Liverpool and will open in March 2015.
Epic Apart-Hotel and Serviced Apartments has invested £800k to transform a ‘derelict building’ on Duke Street into 17 ‘chic and contemporary’ serviced apartments.
Each of the apartments will be individually designed and Duke Street will also have a range of ePods, smaller rooms measuring 15sq.m which will be aimed at corporate travellers and couples on budgets. There will also be two mezzanine studio apartments at the site, one with a courtyard garden.
Owner and operator of Epic Simon Beer said: “We are very excited to bring this stunning building on Duke Street back to life.
“The new apartments will be engineered in a way that allows a two-bedroom to become a one-bedroom if needed. This flexibility is ideal for the midweek commercial market, and further demonstrates the brand’s continued evolution.”
