Indian restaurant Praza by Pushkar to open in Birmingham

Indian fine dining restaurant Pushkar has announced the launch of a sister venue called Praza by Pushkar in Birmingham in the New Year.

The new restaurant, which will create 15 new jobs, will follow Pushkar’s focus on North Indian cuisine. However it hopes to take in more international influence, with the addition of a grilled meat selection including pigeon, rabbit and lobster.

The new menu will be created by Pushkar’s head chef, Bishal Rasaily.

Design

Located on the site of the former Rose Muree restaurant in Edgbaston, the venue will featured an art deco design, with monochrome colourways, glass and chrome for a ‘chic and luxurious feel’.

The announcement comes as the original Pushkar on Broad Street celebrates its five-year anniversary. The venue has experienced a yearly 20 per cent sales increase since it was launched in 2009 and expanded in 2012 to seat a further 70 diners.

Praza by Pushkar is entirely funded by the profits generated by Pushkar itself, with a ‘substantial six-figure investment’.

Celebration

Pushkar’s creative director Rai Singh said: “Initially, my concept for Pushkar was seen as something of a risk and the board of Broad Street directors took a little convincing. I, however, was confident throughout as I had always seen Broad Street as a somewhat bohemian location and felt strongly that this was exactly what it needed. I just knew that the concept would work, and it did!

“We’re all delighted and proud to be celebrating five years of Pushkar, and we are excited to be launching Praza by Pushkar in the New Year. Our team has always remained strong and dedicated through our growing success. I believe this is key to any successful business, but especially one in the hospitality sector. I hope that we can continue this work ethic and the success of Pushkar in our new venture, Praza by Pushkar.”
