D&D London to open site in Scotland

The group plans to open a restaurant and bar as part of Land Securities' £300m redevelopment of the Buchanan Galleries.

The 7500sq.ft restaurant will be located on the top two floors of the building which holds the Glasgow Concert Hall. It will have large outdoor terraces offering views over the city skyline.

Chairman and chief executive of D&D London Des Gunewardena said:  “We are very pleased to announce the opening of our first restaurant in Scotland.

“Glasgow ranks only second to London as a centre for retail in the UK and we have secured an absolutely stunning site.”

Retail leasing director at Land Securities John Grimes said: “Securing such high profile tenants at this early stage of the development process demonstrates the demand for the very best retail space in Glasgow’s famous shopping district.

D&D moving north​

The opening of the Glasgow restaurant will represent only the second time that D&D London has opened sites in a UK city outside of London. The first was in 2013 when the group opened the Crafthouse and Angelica restaurants​ in the Trinity Leeds shopping centre. The Leeds restaurants were also opened as part of a Land Securities development.

“We are very excited about once again working with Land Securities,” added Gunewardena.

“The group’s development at the Trinity Centre in Leeds houses D&D restaurants Crafthouse and Angelica, which have been successes for us.  I am sure that we will be equally as successful at the Buchanan Galleries.”
