The World's End Market to open in Fulham

The Markets Group has confirmed it will open its second venture, The World’s End Market, on London's King’s Road this December.

Located in a 6,218 sq ft building which formerly housed the iconic World’s End pub, the new all-day dining venture will feature a 70-cover restaurant on the ground floor and 80-cover cocktail bar in the basement.

The new restaurant will be run by general manager Stuart Oldershaw, with The Markets Group managing director Sergey Men overseeing operations. Chefs Bubker Belkhit and Konstantin Tskhay will take a lead in the kitchen.

Market fresh menu

Open from 10am on weekdays and 1pm on the weekend, The World's End Market will serve brunch options including eggs Benedict, Royale or Florentine and a traditional English breakfast with all the trimmings, accompanied by Royal Airforce breakfast tea or coffee.

The daily changing lunch and dinner menu will focus on a range of ‘market fresh’ produce sourced from the butchery and fishmongers located within sister restaurant The Crystal Palace Market.

Starters will include a variety of raw fish such as Colchester Rock Oysters, hand dived sliced raw scallops, ceviche of seabass, and vegetarian dishes including white asparagus, shitake mushrooms and poached egg and Parmesan.

Main course fish options will include Brixham cuttlefish or plaice, Scottish langoustine and monk fish, skate wings from Bidford Bay and whole wild sea bass from Anglesey. Meat will include British T bone, rib eye and sirloin steaks.

Both meat and fish dishes will be grilled and served with French fries and a house salad.

The restaurant will also offer an extensive burger selection featuring minced Guildford beef with a variety of toppings, a crayfish roll burger and a portobello and shitake mushroom burger topped with halloumi.

A selection of old and new world wines will be available alongside British varieties from the Chapel Down vineyard in Kent.

Historical design

The ground floor restaurant will feature an interior evocative of 1930s canteens, with a bar created from reclaimed wooden crates, exposed brickwork and a chequered floor.

Diners will be able to see their food prepared in an open kitchen and an open fish display and glass meat fridge will give a market feel.

In a nod to the site’s history, the subterranean cocktail bar will feature a programme of live jazz on several nights a week.

An additional bar and private dining area will be opened on the first floor.

The Worlds End Group was founded by Anatoly Parkhomchuk and Ruslan Ugarov, who want to create a chain of market-inspired restaurants, some with their own farmers’ market on site.

The group’s first venue, The Crystal Palace Market, opened earlier this year and there are plans for a potential third venue in Hampstead.

The World's End Market will open on 5 December 2014 at 495 King’s Road, London SW10.
