Clevedon Hall to re-open as luxury event hotel

Victorian mansion Clevedon Hall in north Somerset will re-open next week as a ‘luxury hospitality destination’ following a £3m refurbishment.

The 150-year-old building has been closed for three years while undergoing a complete renovation.

It will re-open on 27 November as an events venue with hotel accommodation. The hotel will have a range of 25 newly created bedrooms and suites.

Owners of Clevedon Hall Peter and Sally McCarthy first acquired the hotel in 1991 to run their business from, but took the opportunity to revitalise the estate back in 2010, with plans to host luxury events there.

Renovations

It was important to the owners to restore as many original features to the property as possible with its renovation, to uphold the building’s historical feel.

General Manager of Clevedon Hall John McCarthy said: “We have restored as much of Clevedon Hall’s history as possible and have worked closely with English Heritage and the local conservation officer to ensure the designs are just right.”

Many public areas have undergone a complete redesign, while the new bedrooms and suites have been designed to reflect the estate’s ‘traditional values’ and feature a number of antique pieces and high-quality reproductions.

“We told our teams that we wanted the bedrooms and suites to feel like a home away from home, with a traditional finish,” added McCarthy.

“The bedrooms and suites all embody the same English country house theme throughout and the house has kept its historic character. However, we have added in a contemporary twist which runs throughout the whole property.”

Events focus

Clevedon Hall will host a range of events, including christenings, business conferences and weddings. The venue will be available to hire out on an exclusive basis and it will provide a concierge team to design an event unique to each client, including the organisation of décor, food, drinks, music and more.

“Here at Clevedon Hall, we won’t just offer a bespoke service, but also a completely unique venue,” said McCarthy.

“We have focused on every single detail so that we can provide the best possible experience to our customers. We cannot wait to show everyone the newly improved venue and celebrate.”
