Filmore & Union opens eighth Yorkshire restaurant
The family-run company, which opened its first site in York in 2012, invested more than £200K to develop the three floor restaurant.
The new Filmore & Union is located on Skipton High Street opposite the town council offices and has provided 25 new jobs for workers from the local community.
“We’re so excited about our new venture in Skipton, it’s such a beautiful, bustling town with friendly residents and so much to offer both the visitors and the local people,” explained Adele Ashley, director of Filmore & Union.
“As we’re a family business, it’s so important for us to support the community in every way we can, taking on local staff, sourcing our ingredients from local suppliers and getting involved in as many of the town’s events as possible. It’s such a lively place and we can’t wait to be a part of it.”
Healthy concept
An important part of the Filmore & Union concept is a focus on catering to those with dietary requirements. Ashley created the concept in 2012 as she believed there was a gap in the market for a restaurant which appealed to customers who wanted to eat out healthily, but still enjoy tasty dishes.
The restaurants serve a wide selection of gluten-free, dairy-free and vegetarian dishes and have recently received official accreditation from Coeliac UK for their gluten-free offering.
At the Skipton restaurant the kitchen is run by Michelin-trained chef Marcin Kuc, with the help of sous chef Artur Bialkowski.
It serves freshly prepared healthy breakfasts, wholesome lunches, organic coffee and gluten-free cakes, as well as fresh juice and smoothies. Its menu uses seasonal ingredients sourced from local suppliers.
The restaurant is open seven days a week from 8am to 6pm (9am – 5pm on Sundays) and will focus on the breakfast and lunchtime markets.
