Burger King launches mobile app in UK

Burger King has launched its mobile app in the UK just days after it emerged the fast food chain will offer mobile payment in US restaurants as early as next year.

The UK version of the app currently offers users the chance to receive personalised digital discount vouchers direct to their mobile, with a search function to help them find their closest restaurant and a menu guide giving detailed information on all Burger King products.

However, Burger King said it would continue to update the functionality of the app to ensure it is ‘consistently evolving to offer additional features’.

Earlier this week, PayPal announced that Burger King was working with app developer Tillster to introduce a PayPal functionality to the app in the US, enabling customers to pay for their meals with their mobile. This will be introduced across US locations in early 2015.

“BK® restaurant guests will be able to securely pay with PayPal by simply launching the app and when they select to pay with PayPal they will be prompted with a four digit pin to pay,” said PayPal on its blog.

The UK and Ireland app is available to download from Google Play and the App Store today.
