The pop-up will be located on Notting Hill Gate and will be open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. It will be themed on the idea of a flat share between friends who invite people in for drinks and dinner parties.
The venue will host a bar, and a ‘wandering chef’ will be present on Friday nights to cook for those invited for the ‘dinner parties’.
The Little Yellow Door will also be the first hospitality venue to accept bookings over the WhatsApp messenger service.
Quirky décor
The venue will be decorated as a flat belonging to ‘flatmates’ from different walks of life. It will be full of ‘eclectic’ and ‘quirky’ possessions and mismatching furniture. The menus will be handwritten on magazines left lying around the venue, to match with the theme.
The apartment-inspired bar will also have a hidden room for private booking which will be decorated as an old-fashioned treehouse.
The mismatched theme will stretch to the bar, as drinks will be served in jars, blenders, and teapots, and shots will be served in eggcups.
Food and drink offering
The Little Yellow Door aims to create a ‘unique and immersive’ dining experience. The menu will change on a quarterly basis to reflect the nationality of one of the ‘flatmates’ of the apartment themed-restaurant.
The pop-up will also have an extensive bar snack menu, with choices such as The Fridge Raider, a platter which reflects the idea of Sunday roast leftovers and includes roast chicken wings, potatoes stuffing sausages, bread sauce, gravy and mayonnaise for dipping, and Cheese on Toast, roast camembert with egg yolk, porcini, chestnut mushroom and truffle.
The drinks list will be ‘experimental’ and will include cocktails influenced by the ‘flatmates’ favourite TV shows’. These include My Name Is Earl, a mixture of Earl Grey infused gin, citrus, egg white and sugar served in a tea cup and saucer with biscuits, and Suits, a Manhattan on ice with a dash of absinthe.
Sharing drinks will also be on offer, such as The Towering Inferno. This is rum served in a blender, packed with ice and topped with jelly babies and lemon halves, before being set alight.
