Demon Leisure to open Leeds sports bar
The Brotherhood will serve a British-themed menu and locally-brewed beers. It will be located at 56-58 New Briggate in the site that once held the iconic Gatecrasher club.
The new bar will have a number of screens to show sporting events and has been decorated to reflect the sports theme. It will feature a reclaimed floor from a former sports stadium and walls adorned with sporting paraphernalia.
Co-founder of Demon Leisure Seema Dhiman said: “This northern corner of the city has established an international reputation as a destination for those who love brilliant bars.
“We hope that The Brotherhood will be a welcome addition to the area, offering something different that compliments the forward-thinking bar scene in the city.”
Absorbed in sports
In addittion to nine HD screens broadcasting a range of sporting fixtures, the bar will have high-quality surround sound speakers and headphone ports so customers are able to switch between multiple sports events at one time.
“This isn’t your usual ‘sports bar’ concept,” explained Dhiman. “Spectating sport is so much more than just white noise to accompany a fairly low-level experience.
“Instead we have created a place where our customers can completely absorb themselves in the enjoyment of sport, in a place that embraces excellence in everything we do and in every little detail.”
British classics
The Brotherhood will serve a British menu offering classics such as home-made pies.
Dhiman said: “We’ve devised a menu which showcases traditional pies and British classics. These are foods that have been adopted by British sporting crowds, who originally took the foods of working men from farmers’ fields to sporting arenas.”
The British theme will extend to the drinks menu as the Brotherhood will focus on locally-brewed beers and a cocktail menu which features British-made spirits and liqueurs.
“Our cocktail menu includes a selection inspired by some of the best British bartenders of our generation,” added Dhiman.
“For example, our ‘The Blighty Mojito’ cocktail is dedicated to Jake Burger, the founder of Portobello Road Gin and namesake of Jake’s Bar on Call Lane, one of the city’s longest serving bars.”
