Allied London announces plans for Manchester events hotel
Allied London will submit a planning application for the new hotel by the end of the year, with a view to begin work on the development in 2016.
The Manchester Grande will be located in the building that formerly housed the Grenada Headquarters in St Johns.
The hotel will have 200 suites which each include winter gardens. It will have four different restaurants, a number of bars and a separate member’s club on the top-floor.
Allied London plans to retain ownership of the new hotel and will work with a number of partners to deliver different aspects of the project. It has appointed Levitt Bernstein Associates as its architect.
Events focus
The hotel will offer regular music, theatre and film events and guests staying at the hotel will receive an access pass to the event held that night, depending on which package they choose to buy.
Chief executive of Allied London Michael Ingall said: "The hotel is the first of its kind in the UK, modelled on the likes of the hotels in New York, Miami and the Far East, where the focus is on food and beverage as well as nightly events including major performance , music, film, theatre, arts and club events.”
“The hotel will bring to life the four purpose-built integral former sound-proofed studios, where the Beatles played their first ever live TV performance. The purpose built production green rooms, dressing rooms and rehearsal rooms will be incorporated into the hotel and entertainment complex.”
St Johns
The hotel will be one of a number of new developments to emerge in the St John’s Quarter of Manchester.
