Focusing on home-style Greek cuisine made from fresh ingredients and prepared using traditional cooking methods, the restaurant hopes to differentiate itself through authenticity.
“The Life Goddess is not just another Greek restaurant. It is a genuine cuisine project aiming to become a reference of new Hellenic taste to the world.
“The cooking philosophy is based on a rustic tradition, unrefined and simple that is deeply friendly and relaxing. It is the earthiness of the ingredients and the simplicity of the techniques that serve the cuisine characterises our identity,” managing director Nikos Nyfoudis told BigHospitality.
The menu includes moussaka, gigantes plaki and tomato and caper salad, and the 800 sq.ft restaurant can seat 40 people on the first floor of Kingly Court.
To drink, The Life Goddesshas a list of signature cocktails and 15 varieties of wines from the One Barrel Project – which only produces 300 bottles of each wine.
Just like its other location on Store Street, the Kingly Court restaurant has a deli selling over 300 handmade specialist groceries sourced from artisan Greek produce, including organic tangerine marmalade and wild truffle carpaccio.
Location
The Life Goddess joins Senor Ceviche and Pizza Pilgrims as the latest additions to Kingly Court.
“I first found this place when I was studying and I loved it! It is thrilling for us to be here. We are delighted to be here, being independent and to serve honest, proper food to hard working Londoners,” Nyfoudis added.
The business, which was born out of Nyfoudis’s frustration when trying to find authentic Greek ingredients in London when he was a student, hopes to expand further when the time is right.
“I believe that everything comes when it is ready. Yes we do want to expand. The Greek brand is huge, as long as you serve and offer what people deserve. And we work to serve the best of Greek earth.
“Our main focus is to make both stores work well and try to open another in London next year. We will see!” he said.
