Brewdog to launch Dog Eat Dog in Islington

BrewDog has revealed plans to launch a new hotdog and craft beer concept at its fifth site in London.

The Scottish brewer said Dog Eat Dog will open soon at the former Giraffe unit on Islington’s Essex Road, offering offer ‘craft beers, killer hot dogs’ and ‘a few little surprises’.

The launch of the new food-focused concept follows BrewDog’s decision in May to appoint a US food expert to help ramp up its food offer. The expert, known as ‘Bates’, hails from South Carolina and previously worked with burger chain MeatLiquour.

In June, BrewDog launched a new menu of burgers, hot dogs and ‘tots’ at its Camden bar, which it plans to roll out across its bar estate.

BrewDog also teamed up with restaurant business Honest Burgers in February to create the ‘BrewBurger’ – a 150g aged beef patty with Comte cheese and bacon candied with BrewDog’s iconic amber ale, 5AM Saint.

Bar openings

Outlining its plans for the rest of the year, BrewDog also confirmed that Brewdog Liverpool will open at 1 Manolis Yard on Colquit Street next month, featuring “30 draft lines, 2 gnarly old shipping containers converted into beer cellars and a weird outside-inside-outside thing that we love without really understanding.”

The company said it was still waiting for final planning permissions for its Glasgow Mechant site, but hoped to open the bar in early 2015.

Other recent Brewdog acquisitions include the former Blind Tiger club in Brighton, which should open within six weeks, and a second larger site in Leeds at Crispin Lofts on New York Road. “When this site opens in around March 2014 the plan is to turn the existing Leeds bar into a BottleDog,” the company said.
