Tom Kerridge named GQ Chef of the Year
The chef joined top UK celebrities including Van Morrison, Liam Neeson, Benedict Cumberbatch and Ringo Starr at the extravagant awards ceremony at the Royal Opera House.
GQ hailed Kerridge as ‘the only chef to receive two Michelin stars for pub grub’, pointing out that he has also released a best-selling cookbook, presented two successful BBC TV programmes, become a newspaper columnist and won praise from celebrity visitors to The Hand & Flowers.
Kerridge said: "In 2011 we opened the first two Michelin-starred pub. It's a triumph for a fat middle aged bloke to be stood on the stage at the GQ awards".
Previous GQ Chef of the Year award winners include Jason Atherton and Heston Blumenthal.

The GQ award tops off a successful few years for Kerridge, who was named Chefs’ Chef of the Year at the AA Hospitality Awards 2013-14 and whose The Hand & Flowers was voted the UK’s best restaurant at the 2013 National Restaurant Awards and has retained the title of Gastropub of the Year for the past three years.
The chef published his ‘Proper Pub Food’ cookbook last year and presented BBC TV programmes Tom Kerridge's Proper Pub Food and Spring Kitchen with Tom Kerridge.
He will host a new six-show series called Tom Kerridge’s Best Ever Dishes in October, and published a book of the same name last month.
Kerridge and his wife Beth are to open a second pub in Marlow – the Coach - later this year, offering all-day dining in a relaxed setting with an open kitchen, live sports and a no booking policy.
