Second Hoxton Hotel opens this month in High Holborn

The second hotel in the Hoxton series, The Hoxton, Holborn, will be opening on 25 September.

The hotel will be located on High Holborn in a Grade II listed building and will stretch over five different floors. The Hoxton, Holborn will have 174 bedrooms and will charge from £69 to £269 for a night’s stay.

Chief executive of The Hoxton Sharan Pasricha said: “The Hoxton, Shoreditch has just celebrated its 8th Birthday and since its early days it has been a sleeping giant. When we acquired the hotel back in 2012 I knew there was something incredibly special about the place and speaking to our guests and locals who love the hotel, I quickly realised that with a few tweaks it was something that would work well across the globe.

“We’ve given the brand a makeover including a huge internal injection of love starting with a refurb of The Hoxton, Shoreditch and now we're building a series of hotels kicking off with a second opening in Holborn quickly being followed by Amsterdam, Williamsburg and Paris. Though all called The Hoxton, we don’t intend to be a chain as each of our properties are designed to feel different, inspired by the buildings they are in and neighbourhoods they are part of."

High Holborn

The location of The Hoxton, Holborn was chosen so it has good transport links, being a minute’s walk from the Holborn underground station and close to King’s Cross, St Pancras and Euston. Its Holborn location will also be close to a number of shops, bars and restaurants in Covent Garden and Oxford Street.

“We chose Holborn as it's an under the radar creative hub,” explained Pasricha. “Everyone from Myspace and Google to MediaCom have offices in the area whilst Covent Garden and Soho are right on its doorstep. Then there’s the independent shopping hub that is Lambs Conduit Street.

“The area is crying out for a place for people to hang out, have a drink or two, catch up on some work or just meet for coffee in a comfy chair. We took a bet on the area that it was about to have a resurgence and it seems we are onto something. Just like Shoreditch evolved around us we expect Holborn will do exactly the same. “

Facilities

The rooms in the hotel are being designed with an aim to offer comfort and space, while also focusing on style. The beds will offer duck-down duvets and 280 thread count linen. The en-suite bathrooms are tiled in black and white and feature walk-in showers and Pen and Ink toiletries. Guests will also be offered a free ‘healthy breakfast bag’. They will be able to hang a paper bag outside the room door which the hotel staff will fill overnight with orange juice, a granola yoghurt and a banana.

Like the first hotel in Shoreditch, The Hoxton, Holborn will be working in partnership with The Soho House group. Its main restaurant, the Hubbard & Bell, will be in an industrial style conservatory area, but in the basement the hotel will also have a more casual ‘Chicken Shop’ which will offer rotisserie chicken. On the ground floor there will be Holborn Grind, which will offer coffee for guests and will be run by the team behind Shoreditch Grind.

The hotel will also feature a ground floor salon which will offer manicures, as well as a meeting and events space named The Apartment. This will be a number of individual meeting rooms which centre around an open plan kitchen which will be stocked with drinks and sweet treats for those using the facilities.

As with The Hoxton, Shoreditch, the new hotel will follow the brand’s ‘no rip-off’ policy. This means they offer free WiFi throughout the hotel, one hour of free phone call for guests to landlines and US mobiles in the UK, USA, Australia and a number of other European countries. There will also be a shop in the lobby that offers goods at ‘supermarket’ prices, and guests can get mineral water and milk for free.
