Burger & Lobster is planning further expansion in London and internationally
Burger & Lobster, the London-based group, is in talks to open its seventh site in the capital in Canary Wharf, according to BigHospitality's sister title M&C Report.

The group, which has lined up its first regional opening in Manchester, is understood to be in talks to secure the Via Fossa site in the Port East Building, West India Quay.

As revealed by M&C Report earlier this week, the six-strong brand is believed to be close to securing a site at Ship Canal House, in Manchester’s King Street.

The company is planning to open a number of sites around the UK, the first of which is most likely to launch in 2015. Edinburgh, Liverpool and Dublin are all slated as possible locations, as well as student and tourist towns such as Oxford and Cambridge.

The brand is planning to launch in the Middle East and is close to securing a franchise partner for an opening in Dubai next year.

The company will open its first international site this autumn in New York.

Burger & Lobster will open in a two-story space between Fifth and Sixth avenues in New York City.

Turnover for the group stood at £17.7m in the year to 29 December 2013.

It is thought to be also exploring opportunities in Covent Garden.

Scaleable concept

Goodman Restaurants launched Burger and Lobster in Mayfair 2011, and has since opened sites in Soho, Farringdon, the City, Fitzrovia and at Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge.

The brand broke the mould when it first launched offering a mono-product approach and no-reservations policy, and was named Best New Scaleable Concept at Restaurant Magazine’s R200 Awards in 2012.

George Bukhov, who heads up Goodman’s international business, told BigHospitality the group aims to open a Burger & Lobster in every UK city as well as expanding internationally, and could open as many as 100 sites.
