Slow-cooked meat concept Pull’d comes to the City

A new pulled meat food-to-go concept, Pull’d, will be opening in the City of London at the end of September.

Pull’d will initially open from 7am to 7pm, aiming itself at the busy breakfast and lunch market for workers in the City. The concept will focus on the slow-cooked pulled meat offering, which can be combined with a selection of bases or salads for a healthier option.

The concept’s directors aim to create a new brand that is very distinctive and already have plans to expand. They are looking to open up to five sites in the next three years.

Pulled meat

BigHospitality spoke to one of the directors of Pull’d, Sam Plumptre, who explained his thinking behind opening the pulled meat on-the-go venue.

“We thought that pulled meat was already out there in the restaurant form, with some food-to-go places starting to offer it, like Pret A Manger and Eat, but there was no high street mass market pulled meat specialist,” Plumptre explained. “Some Mexican chains are out there doing it but they’re limited to their ethnic hook, we’re less concerned about where the dish is from and more about how good it tastes.”

Pull’d will allow customers to customise their meals to suit their own tastes. They will be able to choose a meat and a signature sauce, and select from a range of bases including brioche rolls, tortillas, rice, and salad. There will also be a selection of cold salads, baguettes and wraps available.

“We do comfort food really well,” added Plumptre. “Our wraps and brioche sliders are really good, but we also so great rice dishes and healthy salad with pulled chicken. We think people on Monday or Tuesday might not want anything too heavy, but at the end of the week they might enjoy a pulled pork and BBQ slider, perhaps for comfort food after a night out.”

Pull’d will also have a range of breakfast options, both traditional and more unusual. These include pastries, homemade chia seed porridge and granola, alongside signature choices such as egg and pulled pork roll with Pull’d BBQ sauce.

Cool but unpretentious

Pull’d will be located in a dual entrance site that was acquired for the operators by leisure specialists Davis Coffer Lyons. The venue opens out onto both Cannon Street and Queen Victoria Street.

“We raised the money in March and this was the first site that we saw that we loved, we went straight for it,” said Plumptre. “It’s a really cool site with a dual entrance, so we effectively get good foot traffic from both sides. We’ve knocked a few walls out and it’s quite nice and open, we’re really excited about it.

“We’re going for a smart décor; there are some great food-to-go operators with brilliant designs so it’s a highly competitive market. We want a cool but not pretentious feel and to be quite accessible, but still be different from anything that’s out there.”

Pull’d will be located at 61 Cannon Street and will open at the end of September.
