Five-star Park Lane hotel Grosvenor House has completed the first stage of a £7m refurbishment programme, with its new Executive Lounge now open.

The £1.4m new lounge has moved from the seventh to the ground floor and tripled in size, with a large media wall, check-in and check-out, private showers and changing facilities, high speed Wi-Fi, iPads, wireless printing and luggage storage.

Open daily to executive and suite guests, the lounge also features an open-plan kitchen serving food and drinks from breakfast through to evening canapés, with a ‘grab-and-go’ station open all day for guests on the move.

“The Lounge is far more extensive with different zones for social gatherings, work space and to indulge in the food and beverage offerings throughout the day,” Grosvenor House general manager, Stuart Bowery, told BigHospitality.

“The Lounge is fresh and sophisticated in design, inspired by the heritage of Grosvenor House and the proximity of Hyde Park, which is brought to life inside through our media wall.”

Room refurbishment

Grosvenor House is now embarking on the refurbishment of 42 Premium Park View, Park View and Executive Suites, which will be staged to ensure the hotel can remain operational throughout.

The first phase of room refurbishments, due to be completed mid-August, will see 16 Premium Park View, Park View and Executive Suites transformed with a new design and luxury new bathrooms.

“In keeping with our history, we aim to reflect the authentic, crafted finishes from the golden age of travel, with the elegance and modernity of a luxury hotel on Park Lane,” said Bowery.

The second phase, due to run from mid-August to late October, will see a further 24 suites refurbished and two new Royal Suites created from adjoining Premium Park View and Park View suites.

“Our history and heritage underpin the authenticity of Grosvenor House, however we must remain appealing and responsive to the needs of the expectant global traveller," said Bowery.

“Refurbishment is part of the natural cycle of a hotel and we are continuing to evolve and remain relevant to the markets we serve.”
