Launching on 7 August opposite North Greenwich tube station, the bar will be open from Wednesday to Sunday every week, and Mondays and Tuesdays with O2 events on.
The venue will offer Meantime’s core range of beers, as well as limited editions, seasonal brews, and the Peninsula Pale Ale, which will be exclusive to BeerBox and dispensed via the brand’s Brewery Fresh tank beer concept.
Street food
Additionally, owner Knight Dragon is currently in talks with various street food vendors to potentially include a food stall in the venue.
Meantime CEO Nick Miller told BigHospitality: “We’ve been talking about it for about two years, and we’ve taken inspiration from a number of places, including Boxpark Shoreditch. We look at all sorts of way to market our beers in innovative ways, and when this opportunity came up we thought it was too good to miss.
“There are three purposes for us: First, it allows us to showcase our products to the broader public; second, it’s an additional retail site offering the local craft beers, increasing brand awareness; third, there will be an operating profit from retail.”
Roof terrace
Created with design agency Hooperberg, the two-storey BeerBox will be made from customised shipping containers, with an open top roof terrace.
Knight Dragon is the development company in charge of rejuvenating the Greenwich Peninsula area. CEO Richard Margree added: “It was important for us to partner with an exciting brand, with local roots and a unique product offering. Meantime have been going from strength to strength and they have come up with something fresh and innovative for this prominent space.”
Meantime launched its Brewery Fresh tank beer last year, making London Lager available to drinkers without pasteurisation, filtering or pressurisation in an initial three pubs.
The latest venue to feature the tank is St Barts Brewery, which opened earlier this month in west Smithfield, London.
