The 150-cover restaurant will be the group’s first all-day dining venture, serving breakfasts including steak & eggs and classic eggs benedict alongside its menu of steaks and Buenos Aires-inspired dishes such as twice cooked pork belly and seafood spaghettini.
CAU has also designed a new drinks menu for the site, with specials including a ‘knock out’ Bloody Mary.
“We have been honing the offering over the last 12 months and I know CAU Bristol will show how much we have pushed the brand forward, creating what I know will be a brilliant all-day offering,” said CAU operations director Graham Hall.
Located in the affluent Clifton Triangle area of the city, the restaurant will feature a design that departs from the group’s existing venues, with a more industrial and imposing feel to fit in with the buildings’ architecture and the surrounding area.
“The space is inspirational and has allowed us to put in a wonderful centralised kitchen and bar which is the focal point,” said CAU creative director Patsy Godik.
“We also played with creating different levels which resulted in some fun and quirky designs such as raised booths, and an even more dynamic treatment of the ceiling and its lighting.”
UK expansion
CAU Bristol will be the group’s third opening in 2014, joining new restaurants in Kingston and Tunbridge Wells.
Hall told BigHospitality's sister publication Restaurant Magazine that CAU – which stands for Carne Argentina Unica – is hoping to extend its casual-dining steak concept further across the south of England, with plans to open two more locations in Wimbledon Village and Henley-on-Thames.
The group also plans to extend northwards in 2015, with a focus on areas where sister-restaurant Gaucho has a presence, such as Manchester and Leeds.
