Marco Pierre White confirms Glasgow restaurant opening

Marco Pierre White has confirmed that he will open his first Glasgow restaurant at Hotel Indigo Glasgow in late August.

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill will open on the ground floor of the boutique city centre hotel, offering a range of regionally-inspired daily specials and a semi-private dining area.

“It’s been a long time in the planning, but I’m absolutely delighted to open my first city centre restaurant in Glasgow – a city that I love,” said White.

“Glasgow has a vibrant dining scene and I look forward to offering Glaswegians a taste of something a little bit different; my recipe for ‘affordable glamour’ which is all about serving quality food at affordable prices. It isn’t about Michelin standard food, which for most is experienced as a one-off or for a very special occasion.

“The Steakhouse Bar & Grill will cater for different budgets with a very reasonably set-priced menu to our delicious steaks which will sit at the higher price range of the menu. I truly hope the restaurant will be a place for restaurant goers to return again and again.”

Hotel Indigo partnership

Part of the InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG), Hotel Indigo is a boutique brand that claims to offer “a unique experience that reflects the culture of its neighbourhood.”

Denis MacCann, general manager of Hotel Indigo and Co-Chair of the Greater Glasgow Hotels Association (GGHA), added: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Marco to open the Steakhouse Bar & Grill at Hotel Indigo. We have a great dining scene in Glasgow and this new venture is only going to enhance what we offer.”

White already has Steakhouse Bar & Grill restaurants at Hotel Indigo sites in Liverpool, Newcastle and Birmingham.

The TV chef, described as the 'godfather of modern cookery', announced in March that he would be rolling out 50 more branded restaurants across the UK and Ireland over the next three years as part of a master franchise agreement with Sanguine Hospitality, which owns a number of Hotel Indigo sites.
