The company said the new hotels will feature more flexible room units with ‘vastly improved’ mobility, making them easier to deploy from event to event. This will reduce costs and lead to ‘significant’ improvements in revenue per room.
Snoozebox called in A Smith Gt Bentley Ltd (ASGB), which has previously designed mobile hospitality units for clients including the Ferrari F1 Team, Caterham Racing, Ducati, Sony and the BBC, to design and build the new units.
“Snoozebox is investing in a new generation of portable accommodation and social space that are much more efficient and more flexible and which position the Company for the next phase of growth,” said Snoozebox chief executive Lorcán Ó Murchú.
“We will continue to work closely with the ASGB design and engineering teams as we evolve our product portfolio as their design and engineering skills are complementary to our understanding of customer demands.”
The company plans to showcase its new portable hotels in the autumn of this year.
Growth and Glastonbury
Snoozebox announced 80 per cent revenue growth in 2013, with net cash at the year-end in excess of £4.5 million. The positive results follow a 'disappointing' £4.4m loss in 2012 and a reshuffle of the company's board.
The company announced in April that it would appear at Glastonbury festival for the first time, offering five night bed and breakfast packages starting from £1,995.
The Glastonbury Snoozebox Hotel will boast double and twin rooms with free wifi, an LCD TV, air conditioning and heating, an en-suite wetroom and power sockets, as well as daily housekeeping and free on-site parking.
“A Snoozebox hotel puts our guests at the heart of the action, creating the ultimate event experience. We take care of everything else, from a hot shower to a good night’s sleep, making sure our guests are ready for another day of partying,” said Murchú
“Glastonbury is the largest festival of its kind in the world. We’re looking forward to making Glastonbury 2014 extra special for our guests.”
Snoozebox will also make its debut at the Ryder Cup in Scotland in September, as well as returning to the Isle of Man TT, the British Grand Prix and Download festival.
The company has also installed semi-permanent hotels at Stonleigh Park and Silverstone racecourse.
Portable concept
Snoozebox currently creates its mobile hotel rooms from shipping containers, which are stackable and can be fully branded with company or product logos.
The room units currently come in two standard configurations: the Snoozebox 'comfort' room, which has four rooms per container with double bed, single bunk and en-suite wet room, and the Snoozebox 'family' room, which has three rooms per container with a double bed, two single beds and an en-suite wet room.
Snoozebox hotels can be transported by road, rail or sea and aim to be fully operational within 48 hours of arriving at a venue.
