The Big Hospitality Conversation is hosted by the British Hospitality Association, Springboard and Business in the Community and is part of a nationwide campaign to create ways for young people to get into the hospitality industry. Today’s event brings together leaders from businesses in and around Manchester and allows them to meet young people looking for work in the industry.
The Big Hospitality Conversation is the industry’s largest job creation initiative for young people in the UK and in the past year it has received 36,000 pledges to create new jobs between now and 2015.
The event also allows the industry to send a powerful message to the government about the hospitality industry’s impact in the UK’s economic recovery as it creates jobs and growth.
Chief executive of the British Hospitality Association Ufi Ibrahim said: “The success of Hospitality and Tourism businesses relies on their ability to serve others. As Bill Marriott once said, we must serve our people, who will in turn serve others.
“Manchester’s event, and the ones following it, will turn the spotlight on the way in which the Big Hospitality Conversation has been changing young people’s lives, one apprenticeship, one job or one work experience at a time, and thereby transforming local communities, the national economy and the UK – as a nation.”
