Manchester gets two more Avalanche venues
The two new venues will be located in the city centre and in South Manchester, and will employ over 100 people.
Less than two years after opening its first venue on Booth Street, the fine dining restaurant has exceeded growth objectives with a turnover of £2m in its first year of trade.
Zara Ishaq, managing director of Avalanche, said: “Avalanche has witnessed rapid growth since its initial launch – exceeding the original business plan and surpassing our projected turnover figure for 2013. Over the past 18 months we have created a loyal customer base and built a credible reputation and brand that has become synonymous with fine Italian dining. We had initially planned to launch additional sites within Manchester over the coming years. However, the success of our first venue has accelerated this process.”
Each new venue will receive the same investment Avalanche made available for its initial launch in 2012 (£1m), and will recreate the original restaurant and bar setting with over 300 covers and a drinks lounge area. The company also has plans to expand beyond Manchester, with the opening of a London venue further down the line.
“The two new locations will further strengthen Avalanche’s presence within Manchester, allowing us to expand our offering within the city’s vibrant hospitality and dining market. In addition to this, we are committed to launching the Avalanche brand further afield, and will start to look to other cities – including London – once the new Manchester properties are up and running,” added Ishaq.
Avalanche currently employs 45 staff, and specialises in fish and seafood alongside traditional Italian dishes. It forecasts a £10m turnover by the third quarter of 2015, and is set to expand to 1,000 covers towards the end of that year.
